Return to the United States of Fresh Food!

So, in case you missed the last 2 blog posts, we have been in Haiti for about 3 weeks. Our goal was to do what we could to help the people there return to normal life after the hurricane. As we mentioned we had the opportunity to do some road repair in the northeast Bohoc location, followed by some roof work in the southwestern Les Cayes area. We were hoping to go out one more time for the 3rd week, but we were all exhausted and the resources just weren't there to make another foray into the hurricane zone, so we stayed in town and worked around the Beehive, helping however we could. Sadly the last week we both got a little bit sick, but we recovered in time to fly home!

One thing that you will find if you travel to Haiti, there is a surprising lack of fresh fruits and vegetables that are served during Haitian meals. They rely much more heavily on starch based foods (rice, noodles, plantains, etc.) and often fry them. So we were definitely excited when we came home when our hosts (Billy, Brittany, and Sophie Saunders) provided us with a meal of fresh kale salad, apple slices, grapes, raspberries, and sweet bell peppers! It was absolutely gorgeous to see that spread! We were soooo thankful for their hospitality!

So now, here we are, back in the USA, re-embarking on our road trip tour! We have about 3 weeks until Thanksgiving, we are so ready to bust out the NPs like none other! Woohoo!

Here are some pictures from our detour through Haiti!
